※ Dans les années 1970-80, le style des grès de Mashiko, village du fameux Maître Hamada Shōji 濱田庄司 impressionne en Occident, le seul décor y est tracé à la poire ou au barolet, la ligne se diffuse, se mélange en superpositions heureuses et vibrantes. Ici la forme carrée comme le décor extrêmement simple sont une allégeance subtile à la manière de Hamada.

※ In the 1970s and 80s, the stoneware style of Mashiko, the village of renowned Master Hamada Shōji, made a strong impression in the West. The only decoration is applied with a pear-shaped or barolet tool, the lines spreading and blending in harmonious and vibrant overlays. Here, the square shape and the extremely simple glazed decoration are a subtle nod to Hamada's style.
