Large Hanakago, tall basket with handles for ikebana
Lacquered bamboo wickerwork with a very rich combined weave, featuring variations in horizontal registers: the body is woven in strips alternating between mutsume-ami (regular weave) and egozame-ami weave styles.
The base is woven in a variation of yotsume-ami weave.
The handle is in a simple weave.
Sublime natural patina.

This work is a rare testament to the basketry expertise practiced across the planet until the imposition of the Western industrial model.
